The company Sisyphus has developed an innovative robotic Zen table garden that creates incredible drawings in the sand.

The company Sisyphus has developed an innovative robotic Zen table garden that, through a novel mechanism, creates its own drawings in the sand. This invention fuses art, technology, and design, resulting in works of incalculable beauty. In this way, users can connect to the table garden with their mobile devices and customize the type of drawing they want to be created, as well as the lighting ambience, thanks to the LED lights surrounding the structure.

Sisyphus Products

Sisyphus offers a wide range of products that cater to the tastes and needs of its customers.

Sisyphus brings a unique blend of meditative beauty and modern technology to the home, offering products that are not only visually striking but also deeply engaging. Each piece is distinguished by its exceptional design, integrating cutting-edge technology to form a captivating kinetic sculpture that transforms any space into a serene and contemplative environment. At the heart of this Zen garden is a steel ball, which is magnetically guided through a bed of sand by a sophisticated robot. This robot is connected via WiFi, enabling a dynamic and interactive experience that allows users to control and customize their table’s movements.

What makes Sisyphus even more special is the expansive, interactive community that comes with it. Customers gain access to an extensive library of over 1,000 tracks—designs created and shared by fellow table users from around the world. These tracks offer a wide range of mesmerizing patterns and sequences that can continuously evolve to suit the mood of the moment. For those with a creative spark, the app allows users to design and upload their own tracks, adding a personal touch to their kinetic sculpture.

The trails left by the ball on the sand field create captivating, hypnotic, relaxing, and infinitely changing patterns beneath a tempered glass cover. Moreover, the products feature RGBW LED lighting, combining dynamic kinetic lighting colours with stunning dune patterns, all while maintaining warm and natural white lighting options. It can be customized using the Sisyphus app, available on both Google Play and the Apple App Store.

The Artist

Bruce Shapiro

Bruce Shapiro has spent the last 25 years exploring motion control as a medium for artistic expression. His computer-controlled kinetic art pieces are permanent installations in museums across Switzerland, Germany, the United States, Canada, Poland, and Australia. The Sísyohus table is the first of its kind, a museum-quality kinetic art sculpture for your home. To learn more about Bruce’s work, you can visit http://www.taomc.com.

Beneath a thin layer of sand, there is a two-motor robot called Sisbot. This mechanism controls a magnet that pulls the metal ball along a programmed path of polar coordinates. The metal base Sisyphus tables feature stepper motors, which are silent, precise, and perfectly suited for smaller-diameter art pieces. The wood base tables are equipped with powerful servomotors, which are quieter and more accurate at higher speeds, making them more suitable for larger sizes. Each Sisbot is handmade and individually tested before being placed on the tables.
